Hey guys, it’s Kevin with my first official blog update! I’m excited to see where this thing’s headed.
I’ll start off with an update on our India Well Project. The goal is to raise $1500 to build a well that will supply 1250 people in India with clean drinking water, and as of yesterday, we’re over 2/3 of the way there! Together, we’ve contributed $563.00, and with the other sponsors, we’re at $963.00 of the $1500!
So what’s the 1 week challenge? It goes back to a statistic that really struck me when we were first considering Thirst Relief as one of our charity partners. “$5.00 provides 25 years of clean drinking water for one person.” The price of ONE of our morning lattes can give someone clean water for 25 years. So yesterday, when we saw just how close we were to the goal, I challenged my team (they love their coffee) to trade in their morning cups for a week and donate that money to the project instead. Myself included, and I extend that challenge out to you as well! Simple sacrifices and conscientious choices by those who have can make a huge impact on those who don’t. Trade in morning lattes for just one week to provide a community with clean water for 25 years - let’s do this!
Last month, we were really excited to team up with Alimonada to bring an exclusive jewelry collection to a-thread! For those of you new to the NY based designer’s line, each bracelet and necklace is handmade, and all stones come from Brazil, where they have the largest concentration of natural stones in the world. It was love at first sight for us – who can resist this gorgeous earthy stone ring?

But even more than her baubles, we’re truly impressed with Alimonada’s mission to give back. 10% of each sale goes to Casa de Grace, a shelter for underprivileged families in Brazil. The money goes straight towards transportation and supplies for abandoned, neglected or abused young women who’ve come to the temporary shelter from the local slums.
We’re always on the lookout for like minded companies to collaborate with, especially fashion for a cause! You can check out Alimonada for a-thread collection and visit her store here. Enjoy!
Happy national creamsicle day!
